Strikemaster duo
NWMAS, subject to serviceability, intend to operate a solo Strikemaster
on the UK airshow circuit during the 2008 display season. It may be joined in the future by another
Strikemaster, thus forming an airshow duo.
Airshow bookings for the aeroplane, will be posted here when details
become available, as well as appearing in the main display section. The
2007 solo display will be flown using BAC
Strikemaster Mk.82A 425 (G-SOAF)...
Strikemaster '425' was the last Strikemaster ever constructed, out of 154
examples produced. It was
constructed in 1985 for the Sultan of Oman's Air Force (SOAF), and was ferried to Oman by two serving SOAF pilots in the summer of
1986. The aeroplane entered service with 1 Sqn. based at RAFO Masirah, and
remained in service
until 1999 when it was decommissioned.
It was subsequently ferried to RAFO Seeb(N) - Seeb North, and employed as an
instructional airframe with the Air Force Technical College (AFTC).
Acquired by NWMAS in late 2004, following considerable negotiations, it arrived in the UK in
January 2005 following arrival by sea. Moved by road to our
Hawarden base, restoration was begun immediately, and just six months later 425, now registered
G-SOAF, was returned to the air.

Waiting in the wings to join G-SOAF on the airshow circuit is BAC Strikemaster Mk.80A 1120
(G-RSAF), which is currently under extensive restoration with NWMAS at Hawarden.
It is planned to re-finish the aeroplane into fully authentic Sultan of Oman Air
Force (SOAF) colours on completion.
